Batteries

While a satellite phone battery life may offer impressive talk hours and standby time, it can eventually run out of power. So, it’s not only essential to have battery chargers but having spare and replacement batteries are just as important. Accidents happen and the last thing you need is to be stranded with a satellite phone that can’t power up.

Powered Connectivity

Satellite communication is reliable service to keep you in touch with family or business operations when out of reach of cellular networks. Batteries are necessary to ensure you can use your satellite devices when you need them most.

Device-specific Batteries

Our range of batteries are compatible with the world leading satellite phones that include Inmarsat, Iridium, and Thuraya sat devices. It is always recommended to invest in solar and/or AC/DC power to ensure a charge is always at hand.

Inmarsat

Inmarsat accessories include cable kits, chargers, docking stations and external antennas that provide reliable and seamless communication. But the most important accessory is having at least one charger and an extra IsatPhone 2 battery or one for your IsatPhone PRO sat phone for continuous satellite services.

The Inmarsat isatphone 2 battery and Inmarsat Isatphone Pro battery options are practical as a replacement battery or as a backup. Batteries are quickly depleted with constant use so making sure you have a spare or two is critical when traveling to isolated locations. The rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery provides around 8 hours of talk time and up to 100 hours on standby with a capacity of 2,600 mAh.

Iridium

The choice for an Iridium battery includes the high-capacity lithium ion for the Iridium 9500 and 9505 and the high-capacity 9555, and high capacity 9575 for extended power and backup situations. The high capacity battery provides up to 6.5 hours talk time and 43 hours of standby time when in full network coverage and 100% capacity charge typically takes about 4 hours when charging in optimal temperatures (between 0°C and 40°C).

Rechargeable Li-Ion batteries are designed to be charged while placed inside the handset device and will generally take about 3 hours to charge to 90% capacity and the fast charge takes a bit longer for 100% capacity.

The rechargeable battery provides over 3 hours of talk time and 30 hours on standby. If you’re on a tight budget, you can opt for the preowned battery compatible with the Iridium 9555 handset. Preowned batteries come with a 12-month warranty.

Thuraya

Thuraya has a range of different satellite devices, each requiring their own unique battery available at American Satellite. We offer rechargeables, spares, and replacement batteries for the latest and the legacy Thuraya models. For the Thuraya XT Phone, the battery has a capacity of 2520 mAh and takes around 2.5 hours to get a full charge and offers up to 6 hours of talk time and 80 hours on standby.

Heavy duty and high-capacity batteries are particularly useful for intensive usage as it offers above average power for a longer duration.
